ECHO Income-Restricted Unit

What are income-restricted units?

Some apartments are set aside for people who don’t make a lot of money. These are called income-restricted units.

ECHO works with landlords and building owners to offer these homes to people who qualify based on how much money they make and how many people live with them.

Every apartment has a limit on how much money you can earn to live there. For example, if a unit is set at 50% AMI, a one-person household can qualify if they make $48,550 or less per year. Bigger families can qualify with higher incomes.

Different apartments use different income levels — some use 30%, others 50%, and some go up to 80% AMI. That means there are options for different people.
